Sentinel Care was established in 2006 to provide compassionate independent living support services to seniors. The Sentinel Care team helps seniors live as independently as possible for as long as possible. When the appropriate time comes, Sentinel Care can also help seniors transition into loving supervised settings.
The organization works closely with seniors, their families, attorneys, judges, doctors, financial planners and other professionals to plan ahead. Advanced Directives and medical oversight can head off what could otherwise be catastrophic circumstances. For those who plan ahead, aging is often so much more of a sweeter experience. For those who didn’t plan ahead, too often these individuals can get tied up in impersonal, institutional-type care with providers overly concerned with litigation rather than delivering what is in the best interest for the person. Working with the same cadre of professionals, Sentinel Care is able to make the best of even the worst situations.
Vision: By enabling our elderly loved ones to continue to live independently as long as possible, we can reduce their reliance on bureaucratic, system-type institutions.

Through his longtime personal, professional and case management experience helping the elderly, Robert Dixon knows that the impersonal care administered through systematic institutionalization is not kind to those who are unprepared. It is with this knowledge, and his passion to help those in need, that Robert established Sentinel Care. The organization is dedicated to enable the elderly to live independently as long and safely as possible.
Robert maintains his credentials with the State of Florida. Registered Guardians with Florida’s Department of Elder Affairs go through an arduous vetting process. Robert’s fingerprints were sent to the FBI and FDLE for background checks. A 21-page credit report was also required. Updated checks and reports must be submitted every few years. He is bonded and registered with the State of Florida. As a result, family members and judges don’t hesitate to appoint Robert as guardian over persons at risk for exploitation, abuse or neglect. On occasion, loving family members are unwilling or unable to provide their parent the support and guidance he or she needs–this is where Robert’s case management skills can help. There also are times when Robert must stand between the elderly person and their friends or family for the good of the elderly person. Either way he is willing to work with persons who understand.
Long before he was vetted by the state and federal government, Robert has been nurturing strong relationships with the people who work closely with the elderly – those people who can make a difference by making the right referrals. Doctors, nurses, attorneys, financial planners, nursing home and assisted living facility staff, and others in the community often call on Sentinel Care when they discover a senior who needs help.
Robert graduated from Satellite High School in the 1970s and from Northwestern College in Iowa, after completing his service as a Military Police Officer with the U.S. Army. He returned to Brevard County, where he continued his education at Florida Institute of Technology, where he earned his MBA. He and his wife, Anna (Martinez) are members of Life Point Baptist Church. Together, they have four young adult children and three grandchildren, with one on the way. He was the organizer and director of Golden Providers, a senior referral service, and co-founded mychristiancare.org.
